Airmen to Armenia

Click for Larger Quality.
This is a special piece I finally finished for my missionary, Jared Hammer, as he leaves the MTC to go to Armenia. I titled it: "Airmen to Armenia".
I designed our own "air force insignia" -- we're #26. Anyway, he is a jet fanatic and these are our two favorite planes: the F-22 Raptor and the F-117 Nighthawk.
The idea behind this piece is that we ejected from the planes as we're going over our different countries, the US and Armenia (hence the parachute flags) and even though we'll be far apart, "space" (punny) doesn't matter.
Enjoy!
The Armenians
Finally.A group photo! Jared and his District all requested this picture of all seven of "The Armenians" in the MTC. They've been together all summer (about 9-10 weeks) and they have grown to be great friends. I printed off 7 copies (as requested) and sent them out today, along with the "Airmen to Armenia" piece. :) Sister Tolman is the camel, Sister Boyle is the clownfish, and sister Kohler is the koala. (They chose. Don't look at me.) Hopefully this will help them remember their amazing time in the MTC together!

Week 6 of 104
Very late post. Sorry!
Week 6 of 104:
Provo MTC (top) : This week was very eventful for my missionary! He and his roommates got to see 6 or 7 apostles and the entire first presidency! When they were coming in the building, they overheard security guards saying things like, "The Snake is in Transfer"! The were awed in the window, looking out. Then, they had a special devotional, where their district was called up to say what they sacrificed on their mission. Awesome!
Gilbert (bottom) : Some of my best friends are in this week's illustration, including the McBeth twins, Cassidy and Kelsea (the bunnies) and Kate Morrell, the red bushbaby. We all went out to lunch to celebrate Jared's one month out! Congrats Jared! I also went to an antique store this week where I found old Air Force patches and a Pilot's cap in perfect condition. Yes, I am the best girlfriend ever. :) They are now in Jared's save box.

Week 5 of 104
This is very late of a post, sorry!
Provo MTC (right) : So this week I received the colored-in picture that I mailed last week to the boys. It was colored in crayons by each boy and then signed by their character. I decided to color all the boys as they colored themselves. I especially thought Seegmiller (Lion) did a splendid job. I'll post the actual picture they colored soon.
But anyway, this week, Jared told me two funny stories that he didn't send in his email. He said that he discovered that the spray function still works on the irons when they aren't plugged in, so he sprayed Maughan before they left to go anywhere. All 4 of the boys kept hearing a moo-ing sound during meals and they joked that the milk machine was hooked to an actual cow in the back. The situation became awkward when they realized it was only the hot chocolate machine making the sounds.
Gilbert (left) : This week I was dragged to the dentist 3 seperate times for 3 seperate appointments (fillings, cleanings, and retainer adjustments.) And I frosted very cute chocolate cupcakes for my birthday tea-party which was so fun. Mmm!
The Hobo Tree in Provo (middle) : Jared and I together under the tree that we took our first walk to and really bonded and became friends. Happy 8 months of dating, Jared. :)

Week 4 of 104
This week marks 100 weeks left. :) Provo MTC (right) : Jared & his roommates: Elder Maughan-key, Elder Seegmiller (lion), and Elder Dicus (tiger) surviving a week of the cold being passed from one to another ending in Maughan being stuck with it. They also had some awkward run-in's with missionaries barging in wanting to trade ties, like the ones going to Florida that were "obnoxious beyond belief." They were polite, Jared says, but they were all saying, "Gunaugh" (Get out in Armenian)! -- If the writing is small here on facebook, the big guy is saying: "Bust out your ties or I bust down this door." and Dicus is laughing, saying: "He's huge, Seeg!" and Seegmiller is saying: "Be nice, Dicus." and Jared & Maughan are saying: "Gunaugh. Seriously."
Gilbert (left) : Me going tubing on the salt river earlier in the week, and me celebrating my 19th birthday with all the fun things Jared sent me in the mail on friday. Happy Birthday to me!

Week 3 of 104

TOP (Provo MTC) : By special request from the Elders, I was asked to make a special picture for this week's illustration: Elder Seegmiller wanted to be drawn as a lion, and Elder Dicus as a tiger, and they all wanted to be together! Due to the fact that their district loves to play beach volleyball together, it's only fitting that they "Go Forth and SERVE!!"
PS: They are currently having an argument over which it is -- a creamsicle or dreamsicle! Quite the controversy! I love my Elders! (Especially that handsome Bear!)
BOTTOM (Gilbert) : This week, I (Peachy-Bear) grew up a lot spiritually, hence the middle photo of Peachy-Bear with scriptures and such. Then, on the left, I'm seen with Jennifer Lee, an owl, being silly together like we did this week to celebrate my birthday early. On the right I am shown exhausted at work (Bath and Body Works) late into the night, 1:30am, setting up for the semi-annual sale. What a week for the both of us!

Week 2 of 104
Week 2 of 104:Top (PROVO MTC) = Jared (Elder Jar-Bear here) and his companion, Elder Maughan (Pronounced Mahn = Elder Maughan-key) learning Armenian and working together during week 2 of the mission in the MTC. :) Yay! He can already read and write the language!
Bottom (GILBERT) = Me in a pile of my junk as I try to sort through the biggest hurricane of a room full of old belongings, playing the sorting game of what stays and goes. Still in progress too. A very messy job..
Week 1 of 104

Week 1 of 104:
Top (PROVO MTC) = Jared got dropped off and entered the MTC on May 25, 2011. He was overwhelmed by the intense language and schedule, but after the first 2-3 days, settled in, worked harder and let the Lord help him become stronger! What a great example.
Bottom (GILBERT) = Peach (Me) is planted for 2 years to grow on her own! Hopefully, when Jared gets back, I'll be sweeter than ever, and I won't just be a peach anymore. I'll be a peachy-bear!
